When we set up our Merchant Services account, I did not opt in for American Express, since it has high processing fees and didn't seem to be a popular credit card.
In December, I had TWO show up from clients - one of which only had an AmEx for large purchases - so I opted in to accept American Express as a form of payment. We've added the logo to our home page, so charge away, AmEx holders!
